About me

My name is Gareth Nuttall-Smith. I was fortunate enough to grow up in Botswana, this exposing me to the wonders of the bush and wildlife at an early age. I always knew I wanted to do something in the bush. Anything that would allow me to spend as much time out in the wild. Now I find myself studying towards my masters degree at Rhodes University in the beautiful Eastern Cape of South Africa.

What’s this site about?

This site is where I want to share what I’m doing, the photos I take, the unique experiences I have while out in the bush and sometimes my opinions about what’s going on in the conservation world.

BushBoet, what does it stand for?

Bush means nature and the wilderness.

Boet is an Afrikaans word meaning ‘brother’ and is generally used in a friendly manner when talking to someone.

eg :

“Do you want to go watch the game this Friday boet?”

“Boet, you want to go get a beer?”

So basically BushBoet means bush brother.

Please enjoy the site and let me know what you think.
